About the spread
A weekly spread is a simple way to plan with the cards: instead of asking one big question, you look at the week as a whole and see which days ask for energy, which for caution and which for rest. Many people keep a short note of the cards and check on Sunday how they played out — it is one of the best ways to learn tarot.
The cards lie in two rows: Monday to Thursday on top, Friday to Sunday below. Each card describes the main energy of its day. Read them one by one, then look at the week as a whole: are there more light or heavy cards, does one suit dominate, which day stands out?
How to do the reading
- Do the reading on Sunday evening or on Monday morning, while the week is still ahead.
- Type a focus for the week into the box above the deck if you like, for example “work” or “my relationship”. It never leaves this page.
- Press “Shuffle and deal”: four cards land in the top row and three in the bottom row.
- Turn over the cards in order, from Monday to Sunday.
- Read each card’s short meaning below the spread, and note the days that stand out.
What each position means
1 Monday
Monday sets the tone of the week: the energy you start with and the first tasks or meetings.
2 Tuesday
Tuesday: the day the week gets going — what will need your effort and initiative.
3 Wednesday
Wednesday, the middle of the week: often a turning point, a decision or a change of plans.
4 Thursday
Thursday: what grows out of the first half of the week — results, news, the first fruits of your work.
5 Friday
Friday: the end of the working week — what you complete, what you carry over, how you feel.
6 Saturday
Saturday: rest, home, friends and love — what the free day brings.
7 Sunday
Sunday: taking stock and getting ready for the next week; the card often shows what you take with you.
How to read the spread as a whole
Before reading day by day, look at the whole week. Many Major Arcana mean an important week; many Cups an emotional one; many Pentacles a week of work and money matters; many Swords a week of decisions and conversations; many Wands a busy, active week.
A difficult card on a particular day is not a reason to stay at home: it is a hint to be careful, to save energy or to avoid a risky decision that day. Compare the cards with what actually happened at the end of the week — that is how the deck becomes your own language.
Questions about the spread
When is the best time to do a weekly reading?
On Sunday evening or Monday morning. If you do it in the middle of the week, read the cards for the days that have passed as a review.
Can I do a weekly reading for one area of life only?
Yes. Type the area as your question — love, work, a project — and read each card in that light.
What if a frightening card falls on one day?
Cards like the Tower or Death rarely mean literal events. In a weekly spread they usually point to a sudden change of plans or the end of something that has run its course.
