Dream meanings: what your dream is trying to tell you

Find the image from your dream below — snakes, falling teeth, dark water, someone who has died — and read what it is said to mean. Or tell the whole dream and have it interpreted for free.

Dream meanings A to Z

How to interpret a dream

Every night the mind keeps working on what the day left unfinished: worries, wishes, conversations that did not happen. It does not speak in sentences but in pictures — a snake on the path, a tooth coming loose, water rising in the house. Dream books in every culture tried to read these pictures, and modern psychology, from Freud and Jung to today’s sleep researchers, agrees on one thing: dreams are about the dreamer.

That is why the same image can mean different things to different people. A dog is a loyal friend to one person and an old fear to another. The meanings on these pages are the traditional ones, gathered from folk dream books and from psychology, and they are a starting point, not a verdict. The key to a dream is always the feeling it left you with and what is going on in your life right now.

Each dream here also has its tarot card. The cards of the 1909 deck are pictures of the same human situations that dreams show — beginnings, losses, fears, hope — and a card can say in one image what the dream was circling around.

How to read your dream

  1. Write the dream down as soon as you wake up, even a few words: dreams fade within minutes.
  2. Note the main image and the strongest feeling — fear, relief, longing, joy. The feeling matters more than the plot.
  3. Find the image in the list and read its general meaning first, then the version closest to your dream.
  4. Ask yourself where in your waking life you feel the same way. That is usually what the dream is about.
  5. For a dream with many images, tell it whole in our Telegram app: it is interpreted as one story, with a tarot card for advice.

Questions about dreams

Do dreams predict the future?

There is no evidence that they do. Dreams reflect what you already feel and think, often things you have not admitted to yourself yet. That is why they can feel prophetic: they notice what the waking mind ignores.

Why do I keep having the same dream?

A recurring dream usually returns until the situation behind it changes: an unresolved conflict, a fear, a decision you keep putting off. If a nightmare repeats often and spoils your sleep, it is worth talking to a specialist — such dreams respond well to help.

Is the interpretation in the Telegram app really free?

Yes. You can have a few dreams interpreted every day for free: the whole dream is read as one story, and you draw a tarot card with advice for it.
