Symbolism of the card

A huge golden sun with a calm face shines in a clear blue sky, its rays alternating straight and wavy. Below, a naked child with a wreath of flowers and a red feather in the hair rides a white horse bareback, arms spread wide, holding a large red banner. Behind them, tall sunflowers lean over a grey stone wall.

The child is innocence and joy reborn after the long night of the Moon: nothing to hide, nothing to fear. Riding without a saddle or reins shows trust and harmony with life’s energy. The red banner is vitality and victory. The wall is the protected garden of the conscious mind, and the sunflowers, which turn towards the light, are all living things reaching for warmth and growth.

Upright meaning

Upright, the Sun promises a bright period. Things work out, efforts are rewarded, and you feel full of energy and confidence. Misunderstandings are cleared up — the truth is visible in full daylight.

It is a time to enjoy life, to celebrate, to be seen and to share your warmth with others. Projects succeed, relationships are happy, and even simple moments bring delight. Let yourself be playful and open like the child on the card.

Reversed meaning

The Sun (reversed)

Reversed, the Sun is still a positive card, but its light is partly hidden. Success may be delayed, joy may feel muted, or you may be too pessimistic to notice what is going well. Sometimes it warns of overconfidence or of showing off.

The clouds will pass. Look for the sources of joy that are already in your life, reconnect with your playful side and keep moving — the sun has not gone anywhere.

Love and relationships

Upright

In love the Sun is one of the best cards. For single people it promises a joyful meeting and a light, happy relationship. For couples it means warmth, harmony, shared fun and sometimes good news — a wedding, moving in, a child. Love is open and sincere.

Reversed

Reversed, the card points to small clouds: a lack of attention, misunderstanding or routine dimming the joy. It is easy to fix with honesty, play and time together.

The Sun as feelings

As feelings, the Sun shows that this person is happy with you, feels warmth, admiration and joy, and their feelings are open and sincere.

Work and money

Upright

At work the Sun brings success, recognition and confidence. It is a great time to present yourself, launch projects and achieve visible results. Financially it favours prosperity and good decisions.

Reversed

Reversed, the card points to delays or less recognition than you hoped, or to overestimating your abilities. Stay realistic, and success will come.

Health and wellbeing

The Sun is a card of vitality, energy and recovery; time outdoors and movement are especially good now. Reversed, it may mean temporary fatigue. Consult a doctor about any health concerns.

Yes or no

Yes (upright) · Maybe (reversed)

Upright, the Sun is a clear, joyful yes. Reversed, the answer is still rather yes, but later or with some reservations.
