Symbolism of the card

A full moon with a sleeping face, set inside a crescent, shines between two grey towers, and drops of light fall from it to the ground. Below, a dog and a wolf howl at the moon. From a pool in the foreground a crayfish crawls out onto the land. A narrow path winds from the water between the towers towards distant mountains.

The moon reflects borrowed light: in its glow, shapes are unclear and imagination fills the gaps. The dog and the wolf are the tamed and the wild sides of our nature, both stirred by the night. The crayfish emerging from the water is what rises from the depths of the unconscious — old fears, dreams, intuitions. The path between the towers leads on: the way exists, even if it is seen only dimly.

Upright meaning

Upright, the Moon warns that the situation is unclear. Information may be incomplete or misleading, people may not be saying everything, and your own fears may be painting a darker picture than reality. It is not a time for major decisions based on appearances.

At the same time, the Moon sharpens intuition and brings vivid dreams. Listen to your gut feelings, notice what frightens you and ask whether the fear is real. Move slowly, step by step along the path, and wait for daylight to see clearly.

Reversed meaning

The Moon (reversed)

Reversed, the Moon shows that the fog is lifting. Lies or illusions come to light, fears lose their power and you begin to see the situation as it really is. It can be a relief, even if the truth is not pleasant.

Sometimes the reversed card points to emotions that have been pushed down and are now coming to the surface. Let them come, look at them honestly, and they will stop controlling you from the shadows.

Love and relationships

Upright

In love the Moon brings uncertainty: mixed signals, idealisation, jealousy, secrets or the fear of being hurt. For single people it can mean a mysterious attraction where you do not yet know the other person’s true intentions. Do not build castles in the air — see how the person acts over time.

Reversed

Reversed, the card points to clarity in a relationship: misunderstandings are resolved, secrets come out and you see your partner more realistically. Fears that held you back may fade.

The Moon as feelings

As feelings, the Moon shows confused or hidden emotions. This person may be attracted to you but uncertain, insecure or not fully honest — with you or with themselves.

Work and money

Upright

At work the Moon warns of unclear situations, hidden information, rumours or deception. Check contracts and figures carefully and do not rely on promises alone. Financially, avoid risky or vague deals.

Reversed

Reversed, the card points to clarity: hidden problems come to light and you can finally make an informed decision.

Health and wellbeing

The Moon is linked to sleep, anxiety and emotional wellbeing. It is a time to rest and calm the mind. Reversed, worries may ease. Any health concern, including anxiety and sleep problems, deserves a doctor’s attention.

Yes or no

No (upright) · Maybe (reversed)

Upright, the Moon answers no for now: the situation is unclear and you do not see the whole picture. Reversed, the answer is maybe — the truth is coming out, and soon you will know more.

The Moon as advice

Do not trust appearances, but trust your intuition. Check the facts, name your fears and do not make major decisions until things become clearer.

As the card of the day

A day to trust your feelings but double-check information. Pay attention to dreams and gut reactions, and avoid hasty conclusions.
